A local partner for defense contractors

A clear path from requirements to readiness

ADVYON helps South Carolina government contractors and defense suppliers prepare for CMMC and maintain the IT environment behind it. Founded in 2008 and headquartered in Summerville, with an office in Mount Pleasant, we bring local support to complex technology requirements.

Your contracts, the information you handle, and your existing systems determine your next steps. We start there, then work with you to define a practical scope for readiness and IT support.

We are a readiness and IT implementation partner, not a C3PAO. ADVYON does not issue CMMC certifications or guarantee an assessment outcome.

CMMC compliance support from a local Lowcountry team

Most small and mid-sized defense suppliers have a contract and a deadline, without an in-house compliance department. A useful readiness plan answers four questions.

    What applies to you?

Identify Federal Contract Information (FCI), Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI), and the requirements in your contracts.

    Where do you stand?

Compare your environment with the applicable requirements. For CMMC Level 2, that means the 110 requirements in NIST SP 800-171 Rev. 2.

    What needs to change?

Prioritize remediation around your assessment scope, business operations, and budget.

    How will you prove it?

Keep policies, system documentation, and evidence aligned with the controls your team actually uses.

    Program update · Reviewed October 28, 2026

    Phase 1 remains in place

The Department suspended CMMC Phase 2 on July 13, 2026. Phase 1 self-assessment requirements remain active, and contractors must continue to meet applicable contractual obligations to protect covered defense information.

Use your current solicitation and contract to establish what applies. A change in the rollout does not remove your data-protection responsibilities.

    From planning to ongoing operations

    Your CMMC readiness roadmap

These are the workstreams to consider when planning readiness. Your Discovery Meeting establishes which services ADVYON will deliver and the scope of your engagement.

    Scoping and CUI discovery

Identify where FCI and CUI live, including email, file shares, engineering drawings, laptops, and paper records. Define the systems and people within the assessment boundary.

    NIST SP 800-171 gap assessment

Review the applicable requirements, record the controls already in place, and prioritize the gaps. For Level 2, use the 110 requirements in NIST SP 800-171 Rev. 2.

    SPRS score and supporting evidence

Calculate the assessment score using the relevant DoD methodology and retain supporting evidence. Your organization remains responsible for its submission and the required affirmation.

    SSP, POA&M, and policies

Maintain a System Security Plan, policies, and a remediation plan. A POA&M does not automatically establish compliance; CMMC limits when it can be used and requires timely closeout.

    Security remediation

Address gaps in multi-factor authentication, endpoint protection, logging, backups, patching, segmentation, training, and physical access controls.

    Microsoft 365 environment planning

Evaluate cloud requirements against the data you handle. GCC High can support export-controlled workloads, but licensing alone does not make an organization compliant.

    Ongoing monitoring and maintenance

Keep security controls operating, review changes to the environment, and maintain current documentation and evidence for required affirmations.

    Assessment preparation

Organize evidence and prepare the people who explain your controls. Distinguish readiness support from an independent certification assessment.

    CMMC compliance FAQ

Which IT companies help with CMMC compliance in South Carolina?

ADVYON helps South Carolina defense contractors prepare their IT environments for CMMC. Headquartered in Summerville with an office in Mount Pleasant, ADVYON starts with a Discovery Meeting to define the support needed for your contracts, data, and systems. ADVYON is a readiness and IT partner, not a C3PAO assessor.

Is ADVYON a C3PAO or CMMC assessor?

No. ADVYON is not a CMMC Third-Party Assessment Organization (C3PAO) and does not certify companies or guarantee certification. Its role is readiness and IT implementation support. Independent certification assessments are separate from that work.

What should a CMMC gap assessment include?

A CMMC gap assessment should establish the assessment boundary, identify where FCI and CUI are handled, review applicable security requirements, and produce a prioritized remediation plan. For Level 2, the baseline is the 110 requirements in NIST SP 800-171 Rev. 2. Agree on scope and deliverables before the engagement begins.

Do I need Microsoft 365 GCC High for CMMC?

The appropriate environment depends on your contracts, data categories, and security design. GCC High can support CUI and export-controlled data when appropriately configured; GCC is not suitable for every category of CUI. A Microsoft subscription by itself does not establish CMMC compliance. Assess the environment and your responsibilities before selecting a platform.

    What is an SPRS score?

SPRS is the Supplier Performance Risk System. The DoD NIST SP 800-171 assessment methodology produces a score that can range from −203 to 110. Your organization must support its reported results with accurate evidence and complete the applicable submission and affirmation requirements. Discuss scoring support and responsibilities during your Discovery Meeting.

Is CMMC still required after the Phase 2 suspension?

Yes. Government guidance reviewed on October 28, 2026 states that Phase 1 self-assessment requirements remain in place following the July 13, 2026 suspension of Phase 2. Applicable contractual requirements to safeguard covered defense information also continue. Check current government guidance and your contract for the requirements that apply to your organization.

How long does it take to get CMMC Level 2 ready?

Timing depends on your assessment scope, existing controls, documentation, and the remediation required. A gap assessment helps establish a realistic sequence of work and milestones. ADVYON can discuss your starting point and proposed scope during a Discovery Meeting.
